On Wednesday, September 27, 2017 Socrates Sculpture Park will honor two individuals at the forefront of the intersection of art, culture, and community at our 2017 Annual Benefit Gala: Nari Ward – a celebrated artist whose work explores social values and material culture; and Michelle Coffey – Executive Director of the Lambent Foundation and global leader in the philanthropic movement toward social justice. Together, this year’s esteemed honorees embody the ethos and mission of Socrates Sculpture Park – as a supporter of artists and their careers, as a catalyst for community engagement, and as an urban park that enhances the quality of life for all New Yorkers.

A special limited edition by internationally renowned artist Roxy Paine, created exclusively for this event, will also be available, with proceeds directed toward the Park’s longstanding Emerging Artist Fellowship program.

The 2017 annual benefit gala will be hosted at Mark di Suvero’s magnificent waterfront studio in Long Island City, Queens, and is quite unlike any other gala, where guests can mingle on the pier or enjoy a boat excursion on the East River.
