Ron Baron

Excavation 1.2.Soc., Monument to the Weekend Warrior,2005
Mixed media

30’ x 8’ x 8

Baron’s work is a monolithic stratagraphic core sample embedded with sports artifacts which emerge from the sculpted surface. This work is part of an ongoing series entitled Unearthing the American Dream, a mock archeological excavation of our contemporary culture – in this case, of our sporting culture. The form becomes trophy like, acting as a pedestal for all the unknown sporting heroes.
