Ronen Gamil

    Exhibition: THE SOCRATES ANNUAL, 2018

    Home(-) and Garden, 2018

    Project description coming soon.
Ronen Gamil (b. Brooklyn, NY in 1980; lives and works in Brooklyn, NY) received his BA in 2008 and Master of Urban Planning in 2009 from the City College of New York. He is currently the horticulture supervisor at Prospect Park Alliance. As an assistant gardener in 2016, he helped diversify the landscape at LeFrak Center at Lakeside by harvesting and cleaning seeds from several native grasses and perennials to be grown in the spring. He was awarded The Prospect Park Annual Recognition Award in 2016.
Gamil makes art through various media, but currently with a focus on horticulture. He considers horticulture as art because it is an ecological art form that interacts with a space to support the local wildlife. His installation is inspired by his graduate studies of squatter settlements in developing countries and observation of the homeless encampments in public green spaces where they try to blend themselves in the vegetations with the possibility of trying to avoid eviction from the space.
