Binoculars to the Future We Want

Sculpture Camp offers diverse groups of children from neighborhood youth agencies, community groups, summer schools, and day camps the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities inspired by exhibitions at the park. Artists run two sessions of their workshop each day of the week and teach children fundamental and contemporary art-making techniques.

MONDAY – FRIDAY, AUGUST 15 – 19, 2016   |   10 AM – 12 PM & 1 – 3 PM

Binoculars to the Future We Want with Ian Gerson
What do you want the world to look like in 100 years? Let’s make our own binoculars to see into the future! The workshop will explore topics such as climate change, rising seas, and increased pollution. Then, the group will brainstorm ways to collectively work toward a positive future that we’d each want to see. Using the park’s landscape for inspiration, participants will make drawings of their ideas. Then, participants will work with recycled materials to construct and decorate their own binoculars through which to see their ideal vision for the future.

Interested in registering for this workshop?
Workshops are offered twice daily, Monday – Friday. Pre-registration is required and will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis.

Sculpture Camp is presented in partnership with Con Edison.
