Road to Freedom Paper Quilting with Queens Historical Society

SATURDAY JUNE 17, 2017 | 12 – 3 PM

The Queens Historical Society is the historical society for the largest borough in NYC and is dedicated to preserving the history of Queens through educational programs, exhibitions, and its role as a local history research center. This workshop focuses on the Underground Railroad, including secret messages that were encoded through patchwork quilts to help guide slaves to freedom. Participants will create paper quilts using authentic symbols and messages
