Tin Can Totems

Saturday June 25 | 12 – 3 PM

Tin Can Totems with Paul Duncan

Bring in your used, medium-sized tin can to create a recycled totemic sculpture. Based around Jamaican sculptural techniques utilizing raw material, you can make your own metal sculpture by flattening a tin can and combining it with found objects and other common items. This sculpture, with its tree-like structure, is designed to bring elements of nature into your otherwise urban design.

Saturday Sculpture Workshops are offered to kids, ages 5-13, and their families. Workshops take place every Saturday from May 9 – September 26; they are free and offered in the park’s education area on a drop-in basis. Participants work with a different artist each Saturday, exploring innovative art mediums and a variety of subject matter.

Please note: If arriving in a group of 10 or more, please contact us the week prior to your visit by calling 718.956.1819.
