Every Saturday, 8am-4pm, from June 7 – November 22, GrowNYC organizes the Socrates Sculpture Park greenmarket for the Long Island City and Astoria communities. Alongside the park’s workshops, yoga classes, exhibitions and stunning views, this Greenmarket is a great place to spend a Saturday morning. Shoppers will find a bountiful selection of seasonal produce from the Black Dirt region of Orange County, Mexican specialty produce from Richmond County, orchard fruit and juice, meat, poultry and eggs and multi-ethnic artisan breads. Free cooking demonstrations are held weekly featuring seasonal items from the market, and family friendly activities take place throughout the season.

The Second Annual Northwest Queens Food Day
Please join us for City Harvest cooking demonstrations, City Growers youth planting workshops, composting by Build It Green, the first GrowNYC Greenmarket of the season, and much more from local organizations + businesses, working together to build community access to fresh + affordable food. All activities are free + open to the public. The day, in partnership with Socrates’ annual Bike Parade, is a program of the Queens Action Council, a coalition of residents + advocates, amplifying the voices of Western Queens to raise awareness, and collectively build a more just and sustainable food landscape from the ground up.
