Urban Farming 101
SATURDAYS, JULY 9 & AUGUST 13 & SEPTEMBER 10 | 12 PM – 3 PM
Presented in partnership with Hellgate Farm
July 9 – Composting in the City
Did you know that nearly one third of waste created by New Yorkers is compostable, but most ends up in landfills? Come learn about the science of compost and how you, the city dweller, can do your part to turn trash into garden treasure.
August 13 – Pollinators in our Food System
Inspired by Meg Webster’s Concave Room for Bees, come learn about how pollinators are essential to growing the fruits you love. We will have interactive displays for folks to learn about bees, bats, and birds as well as honey (from local hives!) to sample.
September 10 – Eating Seasonally in the Northeast
As fall and winter approach, we will provide resources for visitors to better understand what eating seasonally means and how they can support local farmers year-round. Learn about how season affect work on a farm and what to expect by eating locally.
FREE. NO RSVP REQUIRED.
