BIO

Amy Brener  (b. Victoria, British Columbia in 1982; lives and works in New York, NY) received her BA from University of British Columbia in 2006 and MFA from Hunter College in 2010. Well-known for resin and silicone sculptures that encase everyday objects, Brener is interested in the act of defamiliarizing and preserving the present moment, while imagining future audiences.

Brener’s work was included in Greater New York 2015 at MoMA PS1. Her sculptures have exhibited internationally at institutions and galleries such as Galerie Pact in Paris, Wentrup Gallery in Berlin, Reyes Projects in Detroit, Derek Eller Gallery and the Katonah Museum of Art in New York, Susan Hobbs Gallery in Toronto and the MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie, Ontario. Brener has forthcoming shows at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Erin Stump Projects, Toronto in October 2018.
