Bernard Williams
Artworks

This barn-like structure incorporates aspects of modern and rural architecture, quilt-making sensibilities of southern women, and the graphic design of folk art (including barn symbols, often called Hex Symbols of the Pennsylvania Dutch communities, metalwork, needlework, spirit drawings, and manuscripts). Patterns and symbols, which are jigsaw or machine-cut out of plywood sheets, interact with light and the environment. The artist has built a sculptural structure, which serves to reference a distinctly American visual vernacular.
