16 ft Rope in Three Positions: (catenary, taut and coil) is a series of three concrete sculptures derived from manipulations of a thick nautical rope. The works are castings of the negative spaces of the rope when pulled along a centenary, pulled taught in a straight line, and in a coil. The resulting forms fossilize the force of gravity, while defining its mass through its absence. Their monochrome, static and timeless qualities stand in contrast to an environment that is organic and changing.
