Making works in cast iron is an attempt to distill a form into solid matter. It’s close to the authority and uniformity of stone but is more dense and uniform in make up and carries the information that it was once a liquid more clearly than stone. Finally, it has the stability of an ingot of matter. There is little reason to see it in another form.
