For this project, the artist has collaged various images out of recycled and unwanted billboards. The artist is interested in the juxtaposition between the intended function of the billboard as a type of propaganda tool and its location within the local neighborhood of Long Island City, which houses many industrial shops, factories and studios. His process is informed through his work, which deals with environmental issues, in this case, the refusal to use the standardized PVC material that most billboards are made of; PVC, while durable and weather resistant, can be highly toxic. He allows his images to extend farther than the usual rectangular plane, and in doing so has initiated another layer of discussion with traditional billboards.
