The Runner, 1989Neon, glass, electricity6' × 3' × 30'

Four neon figures sequentially flash on a dark canvas of urban night. The mind is convinced there is motion.
Turn of the century technology multiplies and divides nature’s electrical energy to create a brief cartoon of light.
The mix of random and rhythmic change is the result of an on/of switch regularly acting on the inertia of a powre distributing device.
Thanks to Michael Post of his assistance on the installation.
