Rainy Lehrman
Artworks

The artist has built a wall 4 feet high, 3 feet wide and 30 feet long, out of sawdust. The work focuses on the waste created through the labor of woodworking. The artist has reconstituted this material, which is often overlooked, into what appears as a geological cross-section of the earth’s layers. The sawdust, which is pure wood with no MDF by-product, is gathered from various artists’ projects and woodshops. In addition to sawdust, she uses water and a water-based adhesive to cast the mass in a wooden mold.
