Floating Scroll was designed and built for Socrates Sculpture Park. When I get to a park I look for a place to lie down and look at the sky. Floating Scroll is low to the ground and horizontal, inviting a whimsical participation from the public. It is a vehicle for imaginary travel, a flying carpet. In a more formal sense it is part of a series of “scrolls” that I am working on, which are covered with complex curved surfaces and color in wood.
