Mute
The piece stems from an idea to create an austere sculpture that reveals little and throws the viewer inward into a state of introspection. Basic expectation and desires are denied. The stage sits motionless on which the principal player, the piano, remains mute. Speakers stay silent, doors remain impenetrable. An empty pulpit and unrevealing keyholes disclose none of the information associated with images, leaving our imagination to fill the empty spaces.
