On the Way to Ithaka I

My sculpture relates to tools, functional objects or perhaps parts of machinery; some allow for architectural connotations. They may also evoke an association to the human torso. Through these multiple readings the sculptures may tread a fine line between representation and abstraction. On the Way to Ithaka I has a clear horizontal orientation which for me implies feelings that relate to a lying body position. Calm and silence are aspects o those feelings. Working with the surroundings this form suggests at the same time a potential movement. Special thanks to Bettina!
