Paint Box
A performance in a 12 foot box with canvas walls. Inside the box is a swing suspended from a crane or other apparatus above. Attached to the swing are two paint cans, one on either side hanging from chains. The paint cans are filled with paint, each a different color and each with a taped hole at the bottom. The performer gets wound up on the swing by a helper up to the height of the box’s walls until the rope is very tightly wound. The tape is removed from the cans, and the performer is released, causing the swing to spin and the paint to spatter onto the walls. The paint is diluted and the cloth thin enough that the patterns of the paint are visible from outside the box. The action would be repeated several times using different cans of paint containing different colors.
