Field Guide: Healing / Senses / Healing Plants #3

Saturday, August 20 • 11AM – 1PM • Pre-Registration Required • All Ages Welcome • Free!
20 participants (all ages)
Have you ever wondered how our bodies know it’s not feeling well? Or, how do our bodies signal pain, hunger and other feelings? What about plants? Do they sense similar interior and exterior stimuli?
By examining the ways our bodies communicate what it’s sensing internally and externally, we can begin to understand how to care for the self. We will look at the similarities between our bodies ability to shift awareness through sensory organs and plants ability to fluctuate based on its environment.
Each workshop will explore the healing properties of plants and how it relates to one of our bodies’ sensorial preceptors. Participants will leverage the powers of the garden and create medicine for what ails ya.
Workshops #1 , 2, 3
Workshops can be scaffolded to build upon previous weeks knowledge or taken a la carte.
Our first workshop will focus on the connection between our bodies, the elements and the medicinal properties of plants. We will create a communal medicine wheel that mirrors our 4 bodies and make small herb bundles to take home. **Workshop #1 on August 6 is rescheduled to September 24. RSVP here —>
During our second workshop we will leverage the collective knowledge from our medicine wheel and consider how to care for our internal body. We will make Jarabe, a medicinal syrup made in many homes throughout the Caribbean while sipping on a collectively made herbal infusion.
Lastly, moving outwards, our final workshop will focus on caring for our external body. We will learn how to make herbal body satchels to take home and fresh medicinal compresses using plants on site.
Facilitated by Jeannette Rodríguez Píneda.
