The dirt of a location tells us about an intricate history, through layers of waste and hidden objects. The decomposed beings and the minerals present in the geography create a unique materiality that have been useful in forms of traditional building, pottery and food preparation.

During this Field Guide session we will use dirt as a key material to explore ways to make adobe bricks forms and attempt to create clay sourced from different locations in New York state.
