Duration: 8 weeks, from June 10th to August 9th, 2024.  Not in session July 1-5.
Salary Range: $25 per hour, averaging 20 hours per week

Socrates Sculpture Park is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2024 Socrates Public Design Internship.

This internship aims to give advanced students and recent graduates in urban design, architecture, landscape architecture an opportunity to work in an organization dedicated to artists and communities working together in public. Adults who may be in college, graduate school, considering a career change and/or re-entering the workforce are encouraged to apply.

The focus of this year’s internship will be the documentation and analysis of existing built conditions in preparation for a reimagination of the Park’s infrastructure in 2025. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside Socrates’ staff, artist fellows and community partners.

Additional guidance for the internship will be provided by collaborating architect Nandini Bagchee.


  • Good visualization and communication skills
  • Proficiency with drafting and visualization software tools
  • A passion for contemporary art, the built environment and public engagement
  • Ability to commute/work in the Long Island City based office and some off-site work in Manhattan (This role allows for hybrid work but not full remote work.)


Graduate students or undergraduates with advanced training; Queens residents

Compensation & Duration

$25 per hour, averaging 20 hours per week. The internship is 8 weeks long, from June 10th to August 9th, 2024. Not in session July 1-5.
