Renegade Performance Group‘s artistic director André M. Zachery will debut ‘Ephemera’ – a new Afrofuturist site-specific dance/media work at Socrates.

‘Ephemera’ is a multimedia project expounding on the body as a living-archive using choreography, sound-design, and technology to activate the current exhibition, Chronos Cosmos: Deep Time, Open Space. The Black Speculative Arts Movement will also join for outreach and engagement between performances.

‘Ephemera’ is a piece about stargazing both as a futuring action and historically rooted in the African American folklore surrounding “the North Star” that developed on the Underground Railroad. ‘Ephemera’ considers how this celestial wayfinding knowledge – navigating by observing the stars and other night sky patterns – passed from generation to generation.
