May 7 through September 24, October 15, October 29
10 AM – 2 PM

Every Saturday at Socrates in the spring, summer, fall, Hellgate Farm offers fresh seasonal local produce and small batch goods, like their signature hot sauce. Cash, credit card and Venmo are accepted, plus Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), and Health Bucks.

Vendors include Wilk Apiaries, who have a variety of local and raw honeys, as well as Benchflour Bakers, an Astoria bakery that focuses on using local and seasonal ingredients. Additional farm  vendors will rotate vending throughout the season, with a focus on providing organic and locally produced vegetables, fruits, and other products.

Hellgate Farm began as a network of residential and rooftop gardens in Queens, NYC. The farm has since expanded to include an upstate market garden, in Canaan, New York, where they grow a diverse range of organic produce for their communities. The farm aims to promote urban gardening and a permaculture lifestyle within their local communities, providing opportunities for people interested in these practices to connect and learn, as well as share in the abundance of the harvest.
