Socrates artist Jeffrey Gibson (Mississippi Choctaw-Cherokee) has invited the Indigenous Kinship Collective (KIN) – “a community of Indigenous womxn, femmes, and gender non conforming folx who gather on Lenni Lenape land to honor each other and our relatives through art, activism, education, and representation” – to perform a Native Land Acknowledgement at the Park. The Land Acknowledgement will be live-streamed online on Socrates’ Facebook & Instagram account as part of the Online Celebration for Jeffrey Gibson’s Monument Unveiling, which also includes a performance by acclaimed violinist Laura Ortman. KIN has requested that those who are able to do so at this time please make a donation to the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women.
