Rafael Domenech’s ‘Las Palabras Son Muros [Pavilion for Astoria]’ Catalogue – $35

Artist Rafael Domenech’s beautiful limited-edition catalogue documents his community-engaged sculpture ‘Las Palabras Son Muros [Pavilion for Astoria],’ which was on view at the Park in 2019. The publication includes images of the piece and accompanying public programs; essays by the Park’s Curator, Jess Wilcox, & Public Art Fund Curator, Dan Palmer; original poetry; and more.

Published on the occasion of Virginia Overton’s 2018 exhibition ‘Built‘ at Socrates Sculpture Park, this catalogue delves into the artist’s unabashed material approach and sensibility through incisive essays – including one by Johanna Burton, Director of the Wexner Center for the Art –  and gorgeously reproduced images. ‘Nari Ward: G.O.A.T., again’ – $35

In 2017 artist Nari Ward presented the exhibition ‘Nari Ward: G.O.A.T, again‘ at Socrates – the first single artist exhibition in the Park’s history. Ward’s irreverent yet soulful creations are captured in this beautiful hard-cover catalogue of essays, images, and poetry. ‘Civic Action: A Vision for Long Island City’ – $35

In 2012 – when the neighborhood of Long Island City was being rapidly transformed by urban development – neighboring LIC arts institutions, Socrates Sculpture Park and The Isamu Noguchi Museum, invited artists Natalie Jeremijenko, Mary Miss, Rikrit Tiravanija, and George Trakas to propose speculative futures for the geographical area.
