The term guelaguetza is a Zapotec word meaning \u201coffering\u201d or also \u201creciprocal exchange of gifts and services,\u201d and we\u2019re excited to take part.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400;\">This summer celebration originated in Oaxaca City, Mexico, where representatives of the eight regions of Oaxaca gather together wearing traditional costumes to dance, sing, and give gifts to the crowd, creating strong bonds between the different regions. Each region offers a unique contribution to the festivities \u2013 like the much-loved \u201cDance of the Pineapple!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>About BFMNY<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight:400;\">BFMNY is dedicated to preserving the culture and traditions of Mexico, not only through the beauty of Mexican folkloric dance and music but also by building strong bridges toward a more culturally diverse society.
