Plankton ->fuel->plastic->rubbish: Taking my plastics back to the fuel drum
The artist creates delicate sea creatures out of discarded plastic bottles. She houses different configurations within oil drums, which are lit from the interior and sealed with a layer of plexiglas. The drums are slightly buried in the ground. The artist achieves a buried seascape, which lends an ethereal quality to commonplace materials. She highlights a geological timeline of sea life becoming a source of fossil fuel for consumption and eventually being used in the production of bottled water. By recreating these creatures, she seeks to reclaim the material.
